TEA CUP & SAUCER
For consideration I am offering this stunning, antique teacup and saucer by John Meir & Son of Tunstall, Staffordshire England. J.M. & Son were earthenware manufacturers at the Greengates Pottery until 1897. The pattern on this set is so pretty, called Roselle, it depicts a Victorian cottage nestled along a lake surrounded by lush gardens. The border blends small pin stripes overlain with scrollwork and baskets of flowers. The cup and saucer are both scalloped around the rims. The cup is decorated inside and out. On the outside is the same cottage as seen on the saucer while the inside is banded with the same border on the saucer and at the inside bottom a basket of flowers. It is such a lovely set!
