🦃 Vintage Majolica Turkey Smoke Set / Planter / Matches / Toothpick Holder

$69.99

This is an excellent find! It is a vintage smoking companion or desk set/caddy (often designed as an all-in-one ashtray, match holder, and cigarette cup), likely from the early to mid-20th century.

Here is exactly how the layout of this piece was originally intended to be used:

The Small Bucket: —this is perfectly sized for toothpicks, matches, or small cocktail skewers. In smoking sets of this era, a vertical cup like this was specifically meant to hold a bundle of wooden matchsticks. When repurposed today for holiday hosting, it makes a fantastic toothpick holder right next to a charcuterie or appetizer spread.
The Main Turkey Cavity: The hollowed-out back of the turkey was meant to hold a pack of cigarettes or a bundle of cigars. Today, it serves beautifully as a miniature planter or a candy dish for festive holiday sweets.
The Large Lower Trough: The indented green base surrounding the turkey's feet is the ashtray or a catchall tray. The decorative leaves and twigs on the perimeter are molded to create low spots or ledges where a smoking pipe or cigarette could rest.

The vibrant, rich blues, browns and deep greens are finished with a glossy majolica or drip glaze, which gives the piece its distinct, high-quality look. It makes for a wonderful, multi-functional Thanksgiving centerpiece!
