BLUE TRANSFER WARE PLATE
For consideration is this highly collectible, vintage historical Staffordshire plate featuring the engraving from the painting, "The First Thanksgiving" by Jennie Augusta Brownscombe. The Mayflower can be seen in the background as the 'Pilgrim Fathers' gather and give thanks for their first feast together. Surrounding the scene are the family Coats of Arms of nine of the more prominent or better known Pilgrim families including: Standish, Alden, Bradford, White, Winslow, Howland, Fuller, Warren and Brewster.
On the back is a listing of all 41 Names of the Pilgrim Fathers (see photos). This plate was made in Staffordshire England and imported by the John H. Roth & Co. of Peoria, IL (aka Jonroth) under their Old Staffordshire Ware label. It was made by Weatherby company (Royal Falcon Ware) and was imported exclusively for the John Alden Gift Shop in Plymouth, MA.
