Stunning Clarice Cliff Royal Staffordshire Two Color Transferware Plate

Jenny Lind

Royal Staffordshire Pottery

For consideration I am offering this absolutely stunning plate in the pattern 'Jenny Lind' by Royal Staffordshire of Burslem England. This is one of the most beautiful scenic patterns ever produced on transferware. The scene or face of the plate is a brown transfer and depicts a group of people in an Alpine setting seen viewing the distant castle through a telescope. The brown transfer has been hand painted with vivid highlights of red, green, blue and gold/taupe.  The cobalt blue floral and fruit border just makes this pop! It is outlined with a gilt edge.

Truly a wonderful find for your collection!

Measures 10 5/8"

Condition: No chips or cracks, some crazing

Johanna Maria Lind better known as Jenny Lind, was a Swedish-born opera singer, often known as the "Swedish Nightingale". She is known for her performances in soprano roles in Sweden and Europe, as well as for an extraordinarily popular tour of America beginning in 1850 promoted by P T Bailey (Barnum & bailey), and for her philanthropic work. Her fame garnered many commemorative items of which many still are produced and named after her today.
