For consideration I am offering this stunning red transferware covered soup tureen in the rarely seen pattern’Pastoral Davenport’ or 'Rural Scenes' by AJ Wilkinson/ Clarice CLiff Royal Staffordshire of Burslem England. This is one of the most beautiful scenic patterns ever produced on transferware. The scene on the lid depicts a Mother and child leaving their cottage and another woman working drawing water from the stream. There are a pair of chickens on the road between the thatched cottages. The sides of the tureen feature another scene with children and horses.
The border is a stunning blend of farm tools, plows, rakes, and shovels intertwined with berries and ivy...also one of the most unique and beautiful borders!
