$34.99

Brand Adams

Adams potteries produced a series of plates from engravings of paintings done by artist Francis Wheatley, born in Covent Garden in the mid 1700's. This is the series for which the artist is most remembered, painting London's street vendors selling their goods. In this case it was "New Mackerel New Mackerel” depicting a street vendor with a basket of fresh fish for sale.
It is a beautiful black transfer with hand painted touches of yellow, reddish pink, green and blue.  The border is highlighted with a lustre finish and multiple layers of green banding.
