For consideration is this outstanding and rare polychrome brown transferware lamp by Ridgways in the Oriental pattern. This is a very hard to locate piece and in a hard to find color, especially with the hand painted hues of gold, rusty red and green. An Eastern scene with mountains in the background is depicted on the face of the plate. The border is a gorgeous blend of fully bloomed roses within cartouches.
Measures: Appx 18”
Condition: Only some crazing and overall glaze darkening, commensurate to age. No chips or cracks. The base and hardware is old and has oxidized. The harp is loose. The lamp works but I would probably rewrite it and either change the hardware or t try to use a rust remover and polisher to clean the hardware up. I almost took it apart to sell the lamp body only but the hardware could possibly be refurbished and brought back to life!
