Vintage Dairy Grocers Advertising Ironstone English Stilton Cheese Dish Tuxford Tebbutt

$249.99

Brand London Pottery

Here's a wonderful example of advertising pieces that are so desirable for collectors and decorators alike.  This is a vintage  1/2 moon shaped cheese crock made by Denby for Tuxford and Tebbutt.

Established in 1780, the Tuxford & Tebbutt Creamery is one of only five in the world licensed to produce Blue Stilton, aka the 'King of English Cheeses'.  Located in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, the multi-award winning creamery still to this day produces cheeses, using the time honoured and traditional methods. The cheeses which include Shropshire Blue are matured individually and are turned and graded by hand, a process that has been passed down from one generation to the next.

The lid of this alone would look great over a picture or small doorway in your kitchen or pantry.

Measures: appx 9.2" x 5.5" x 2.5 tall

Condition:  No chips or cracks, nice clean condition with mild crazing throughout

This is a unique and heavy piece!

*3rd photo shows an antique Masons ironstone ham stand doubling as a pillar holder.

* --- see if you can spot the Stilton Cheese dish in the last photo with the wonderful collection of blue and white by interior decorator Carol Glasser....HINT it is laying on its side!
