Amber Glazed Black Transfeware Plate Mr. Micawber Charles Dickens Embossed

$33.99

Brand Royal Cauldon

From the classic David Copperfield novel by Charles Dickens this plate depicts Wilkins Micawber,  a fictional character. He was modelled on Dickens' own father, John Dickens, who like Micawber was incarcerated in debtors prison after failing to meet his creditors' demands. The image is a black transfer and the plate has a rich, honey amber glaze.  It features intricate raised detailing of vines, grape clusters and urns around the border.  The rim has a deep loden green trim.

Measures: 9.25"
Condition": Excellent, no chips or cracks and little crazing.
