BROWN TOILE TRANSFER WARE PLATE

Romantic England

J & G Meakin

For consideration, here is a plate in one of the most beautiful and sought after patterns in transferware. It features a stunning view of Penshurst Place, Kent 1341 with deer grazing quietly on the lawn. Artwork is by Frank RIgger. It is a deep, chocolate brown color with touches of hand applied color in red, blue, green and golden yellow.  This pattern is hard to find in this color way.   Penshurst is the home of Sir Philip Sidney, a poet and soldier. The border is gorgeous, being of vines and ivy, berries and florals...one of the most beautiful and intricate in detail.

Measures: 7 "

Condition: No chips or cracks. There is crazing, commensurate to age.
