VINTAGE PURPLE TRANSFER WARE PLATE
Pheasants & Roses
For consideration is this gorgeous plate by the Swedish pottery called Gustavsberg porcelain factory which was founded in 1827 near Stockholm, Sweden. It is best known to collectors for its twentieth-century artwares, but it first made transfer-printed creamware in the English style which is now very hard to find, such as this lovely deep plate in a lavender-purple (perwinkle) color. It dates between 1842-68
This features the iconic Asiatic Pheasants pattern. The bowl features an ornate, scalloped border resembling a beaded/raised edge with scrolls and roses. The face is a blend of lacy flowers from buds to fully bloomed with a pair of pheasants fluttering amongst them.
Measures: appx 10"
Condition: No chips or cracks. There is some minor crazing present, commensurate to age.
