A rare find, this childs nursery plate depicts a little boy blowing a horn standing near two cows. The border around this scene depicts bird, butterflies and flowers within scrolling branches. Below the scene a banner reads "For A Good Child".
Childrens nursery rhyme plates were given as gifts to children as rewards for good behaviour. They were also used to encourage morality and as educational aids throughout the early to mid 19th century.
Measures: 7 1/2"
Condition: Great. No chips or cracks, minor glaze pop or ink spot.
Marked with an impressed mark. It appears to be two larger letters, one of which is W but I cannot make it or the other letter out for certain. There is another word impressed around the letters but I cannot make it out either.
