This wonderful dairy ladle was made to hang on the side of a milk pail and used as a ladle or scoop. I have one that I hang on the side of an antique slop pail which holds my collection of rolling pins. This is a very hard to find piece!!!! Has a hold on the back of the hooked handle so it could also be hung or have a ribbon / string tied through it.
