Vintage Pair of Woven Silk Butterflies & Wild Flowers Matted in Wood Gold Frame Made in England

$89.99

Brand cash’s

This beautiful pair of pictures is by Cash’s, an English ribbon weaving firm since 1846.  Over 100 years ago the Free Trade Bill was passed which put thousands of ribbon weavers out of work and forced them into poverty.  One mill owner began making silk bookmarks and pictures using the same looms and skills needed for ribbon making.  They became popular and collectible are today still sought out for their unique beauty.  I have a few in my own home (shown in last photo) and adore them!

One silk details a Monarch butterfly fluttering Butterfly weed wild flowers.  The other depicts a Peacock butterfly and Honesuckle.

The Art: Framed under glass with a khaki fabric mat and gold and faux burled wood frame

Measures:  The overall framed size is 10 1/2” x 6 5/8”

Condition:    There may be some minor wear around the outside of the frame.
