Aesthetic Movement Copleand Spode Botanical Plate
Navy Flow Blue Dahlia / Carnation Floral Transferware Plate
For consideration is this Circa 1880 aesthetic transferware plate depicting a central bouquet of either Dahlia's or Carnation's with a border of the same. The rims are Gadroown and gold trimmed with loss of most gold trim.
Botanical prints were wonderful sources for English transferware and began showing up around 1825-30.
Condition: No cracks or chips. Some minor scuffing surface scratches can be seen when turned at an angle in light. There is one small nick on the rim of two of the plates (sold individually)...nothing significant and very normal for pottery of this age. Varying degrees of gold wear around the rim, as shown in photo.
Impressed Copeland crown on back
