Antique Blue & White Staffordshire Transferware Covered Soap Dish / Drainer w/ Insert

Brand F Winkle & Co (Ltd)

I am pleased to offer this gorgeous flow blue ironstone three-piece round soap dish in the Florence pattern by the English firm of Dunn Bennett & Co. The body style is quite interesting as it consists of a series of sea shells and the Florence pattern is that of sea flowers and buds.

This small soap dish is 3 ½” tall to the top of the finial and 5 ¾” in diameter. The bowl is 5 ¼” in diameter and 1 ¾” tall. The insert fits over the bowl and is 5 ¾” in diameter and 1 1/8” tall. The flow blue beehive mark on the underside of the bowl states “Florence, Imperial Semi China, Trade Mark, Dunn Bennett & Co., Burslem, England.”

This fabulous three-piece soap dish has a gleaming glaze of cobalt blue highlighted with splashes of gold lustre. The lid and insert are free of chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines, discoloration, and restoration. The bowl is free of chips, flakes, discoloration, and restoration and has a 1 5/8” hairline perpendicular to its rim. Crazing, which is common to ironstone, is present.
