Antique Flow Blue Plate w/ Basketweave Reticulated Border "Eat Your Heart Out" Birds

Brand Unknown

For consideration I am offering this rare, difficult to find flow blue transferware plate by the German company Waechtersbach depicting birds, one on top of another pecking at its heart illustrating the saying "Eat Your Heart Out".  The plate has an elegant and detailed double border of embossed basket weave and a reticulated outer edge.

Wachtersbach was founded in 1832 by a German prince.  During the early 19th century, Waechtersbach introduced Art Nouveau style ceramics. It made works designed by Joseph Maria Olbrich, Peter Behrens, Hans Christiansen  and also worked for the Darmstadt Artists Colony.
