Vintage purple transferware plate depicting the picturesque natural bridge of Virginia in the well surrounded by a floral border of roses with 5 cartouches, one of George Washington and one of Thomas Jefferson at the top of the plate. Around the rim are 3 more: Ancient Arbor Vitae 1600 years old, Natural Bridge Hotel, and the road to the natural bridge in 1872
This plate was made in England by Bedford Potteries specifically for the Natural Bridge of Virginia, Inc.
It reads: "One of the sseven natural wonders of the World. Two hundred and fifteen feet high, forty feet thick and the arch itself has a span of ninety feet between the walls. Surveyed by George Washington in 1750. Acquired by Thomas Jefferson in 1774 from King George III of England. Higher than Niagara, Old as the Dawn".

Condition: No chips or cracks, some crazing commensurate with age
