Blue & White Transferware Platter Roses Cambridge Castle Picnic Pastoral Scene

$39.99

Brand Johnson Bros

For consideration is this lovely, scalloped rectangular shaped  platter in the Old Britain Castles pattern made in Staffordshire England by Johnson Brothers.  This serving piece depicts a group of people having a picnic along the banks of the river at Cambridge Castle in 1792.  The grounds are lush, being landscaped with large trees, walkways and bridges as illustrated by H Fennell. The border is an intricate blend of Victorian scrollwork outlined by delicate & small geometric patterns w/ lush roses and other flowers placed intermittently around it.
