Circa 1932 Purple Transferware Octagon Shaped Plate Washingtons Ancestral Home Sulgrave Manor Banbury

Brand Crown Ducal

 Crown Ducal Colonial Times

George Washington's Ancestral Home Banbury, Sulgrave Manor
Circa 1932

For consideration is this highly collectible, historical Staffordshire plate depicting the ancestral home of George Washington, Sulgrave Manor. Sulgrave Manor was built by Lawrence Washington, George Washington’s five times great grandfather, in the mid-1500s

This series of plates was produced in 1932 by Crown Ducal to commemorate the bicentenary of Washington! English potters were keen to supply the American markets with historical images of our victories, even when against the English themselves! The border is surrounded by lush roses and cartouches filled with the same.

Indented rim, Octagon shaped

Measures: appx 10.5"

Condition: One chip to the back, as shown in last photo.  This does not show from the front/top of the plate.  No other chips or cracks, some crazing commensurate with age
