Antique Late Copeland Spode Blue Toile English Transferware Plate

Pilgrim Couple - John and Priscilla Alden

Absolutely stunning example  of custom items exported to the American Market. This plate was made for the prestigious firm of R.H. Stearns of Boston, probably in the very late 1800's (after 1891) to early 1900's (before 1920).

Richard Hall Stearns (1824–1909) was a wealthy tradesman, philanthropist, and politician from Massachusetts whose self-titled department store became one of the largest department chains in Boston and the surrounding area.

The headquarters and main store was in the R.H. Stearns Building on Tremont Street near Park Street in Boston.

It is framed by an elaborate border of florals, scrollwork.

VERY Hard to find!

Condition: No chips, no cracks, only a bit of crazing
