The Watchful Wood is a one-of-a-kind piece in the Fragments of Grace collection, created from a vintage pastoral plate with a peaceful woodland scene at its center. An owl watches over it all from his perch in a tree, as if he was there all along.  A fox and a squirrel rest beneath a grand old tree while the patterned border frames the scene with harvest tools, florals, and country life details.

This piece has been repaired in the kintsugi style, with golden lines following the places where it was once cracked. Rather than hiding the cracks, the gold draws the eye to them, turning the mended places into part of the story.

A jeweled fox, owl, and squirrel have been added by hand, each tucked into the landscape like small woodland keepers. The fox rests near the edge, the owl watches from above, and the squirrel gathers below — giving the piece a feeling of protection, provision, and quiet grace.

A reminder that even in broken places, beauty can return, life can gather again, and grace has a way of making the mended places shine.
