This beautiful Royal Staffordshire “Heritage” red transferware oval serving bowl is a heartfelt tribute to England’s pastoral life and the timeless artistry of the countryside.

At the center, a finely detailed bundle of wheat is surrounded by classic farming implements — a spade, scythe, rake, pitchfork, sickle, and pruning shears — symbols of honest labor and the harvest’s reward. The embossed border continues the agrarian theme, featuring raised sheaves of wheat around the scalloped edge, finished with a delicate red line that frames the scene perfectly.

On the reverse, the hallmark includes the traditional blessing and poem that inspired the series:

Health to the farmer,

God speed the plough

God send all things to prosper,

E’er he takes in hand

For the farmer indeed,

is a capital man.

This cheerful verse reflects the spirit of gratitude and goodwill toward those who work the land — a sentiment that has endured for centuries in English country life.
