Circa 1902-07 Antique Royal Doulton  English Transferware Turkey Platter

Turkey, Holly & Mistletoe

Absolutely stunning example of Royal Doulton's turkey wares depicting a the king of  wild turkeys amongst mistletoe and holly.  The turkey at the center is a deep cobalt transfer which is done in the flow blue style.  It is entered within a pie-crust, Gadrooned, rim.  The 3rd pic is of my identical platter (in green and brown) hanging at home.  By comparison to the other plates on the wall which are 9" (between a salad sized plate and dinner sized plate), you can see just how huge this is!  I leave mine hanging up all year. And speaking of hanging it all year, one of my very favourite decorators, Kathryn Greeley, hangs hers year round too.  The dining pics are of her absolutely charming, beautiful, perfect abode she has named Chestnut cottage (these are pics 1 and the last two).  The young man holding the platter is my youngest son, Trevor, ready to pack this up and make one of you a very happy camper!

VERY hard to find this pattern!

Condition: No chips, no cracks, lots of fine crazing and slight browning here and there, mostly the back.  You can see the blue flow all over the back, which I kind of like!
