RARE Blue TRANSFER WARE Square Cake Plate / Platter
The First Thanksgiving
For consideration is this highly collectible, historical Staffordshire platter depicting The First Thanksgiving at Berkeley. This is the first time I've ever had this square shaped cake plate / platter. The image source depicted on this piece is of the painting by Jean Leon Gerome Ferris (1863–1930) which was painted in 1912-19. The border is surrounded with several cartouches pertaining to significant times and/or peoples of the U.S. history....The Mayflower in Plymouth Harbour, an American Indian on horseback with bow and arrow, a Pilgrim couple watching the Mayflower return, and Pocahontas saving the life of John Smith.
Measures: appx 12"
Condition: No chips or cracks, with exception to one small one on the back of the plate that doesn't show from the front. Some minor crazing is present
