RARE Spode Copeland Camilla Green Transferware Plate Game Bird Snipe no 28

Brand Spode Copeland

VINTAGE Spode Copeland Game Bird Series Woodcock Plate

Snipe No 28

Absolutely stunning example of the Game Bird Series by Spode / Copeland depicting Snipe in the Camilla pattern.  The birds are framed in a border of plumes and scrolls with various botanicals.  First time I've come across them in green.  Stunning!

VERY Hard to find!

The Camilla pattern was first introduced by Spode in 1833. It was first transfer printed in blue underglaze and later was offered in red, green and brown, of which is the rarest to find in this pattern.

The pattern name/depiction is thought to be derived from the Tea plant Camellia Sinensis

Condition: No chips, no cracks, only a bit of crazing

measurements; appx. 10 5/8" diameter
