Yellow transferware is the rarest of all colors and two color transfers are even rarer paired with yellow. This beautiful brown and yellow transfer printed crescent shaped plate dates to about 1921-33 and was made by George Jones / Crescent Pottery. The dish has a pretty vine and floral motif' with a bird fluttering amongst the flowers. It is painted by hand with shades of red, blue, and green. So very pretty and cheerful color combination!
The company began operation in c.1864 at Stoke Upon Trent at the Trent Potteries Works as George Jones and in 1873 became George Jones & Sons Ltd. They produced gorgeous majolica and earthen wares.
In 1907 the works was renamed Crescent Potteries.
George Jones died in 1893.
