Paul Revere's Ride
Circa 1930
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,—
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo for evermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere.
For consideration is this highly collectible, historical Staffordshire plate depicting the ride of Paul Revere. The border is surrounded with several cartouches pertaining to significant times and/or peoples of the U.S. history....The Mayflower in Plymouth Harbour, an American Indian on horseback with bow and arrow, a Pilgrim couple watching the Mayflower return, and Pocohontas saving the life of John Smith.
Measures: appx 9"
Condition: No chips or cracks, some crazing commensurate with age
I have one or two of these left in blue also. See this blog post to learn more about this pattern and see it in a tablescape:
