Square Black Transferware Poet Robert Burns Cottage Home Plate Scrolled Relief Border

Brand Royal Cauldon

Staffordshire  Black Transfer Ware / Creamware Plate
Burns Cottage
Royal Cauldon

If you are a collector of transferware, here is a real treat...an 8.5" square shaped antique plate from a rare series featuring dogs by Royal Cauldon. This plate looks a lot like creamware with an all over relief/embossed design done with much intricacy and detail. The plate depicts Locklea Tarbolton, also known as Burns’ Cottage where Scotland’s most famous poet Robert Burns was born.  It is framed by the embossed floral scrolled border that really makes it stand out. STUNNING.

The plate is in great condition for its age, very fine allover crazing and some light darkening of the glaze as shown in pics.  It has a gorgeous patina.

I currently have other plates available in this series with different poets homes.
