Stunning Vintage Tole Tray Windsor Castle Frogmore House Cows Butterflies Roses Queen Mary
Vintage English made litho tole tray reproduced from a Victorian papier mache tray acquired by Queen Mary for the collection at Frogmore House Windsor. What I love most about this tray besides the beautiful scene with grazing cattle and Windsor Castle, is it’s elaborately decorated border that framed the scene. Gold scrollwork, butterflies and bees fluttering amongst freshly plucked blackberries and fresh picked roses and daisies in pinks, blues and reds just makes the whole thing pop. It reminds me of the Victorian ephemera so popular then, and still today.
Measures: 22” x 18”
Condition: Good overall. There are a few scratches here and there, and if turned at an angle in the light you can see where it looks like a cardboard box (the corrugated side) has left a dull imprint or shadow) but is in good condition for serving drinks or displays nicely!
