I've just acquired an absolutely charming set of vintage, English chicken egg storage containers, aka hen on nest. This hen on nest is a rare transferware one. It was made by England's Crown Devon and is a nice white ironstone with a crisp green transfer in the Charlotte pattern: a basket filled with freshly cut flowers. These transferware hen on nests are some of the rarest of hen on nests because most are pressed glass or a glazed or painted earthenware / ironstone. They look wonderful setting out on your counter, for storing eggs, trinkets or etc. I use mine to hold our corn on cob holders.
Measures: appx 9" across x 7" wide x 9" tall at tallest point
Condition: the base has been repaired as shown in last 3 photos. I displayed this for years on my kitchen counter and used it as mentioned above...no problems and only noticeable on one side and if you pick it up to look at it. Discounted by $80 due to repair
