Before Dukes or Hellmans and the convenience we have of buying it in a jar, people used to make mayonnaise at home. This darling bowl was used to serve the condiment, hence its name. Of course it would be cute as a sugar bowl, candy dish, trinket dish...etc. I absolutely love this pattern! It is called Charlotte by Clarice Cliff / Royals Staffordshire of England. A Victorian basket of flowers decorates each side of the scallop edged bowl.
