This beautiful, antique plate by Royal Doulton pays homage to Scotland's national flower, the Thistle.  Circa 1936 - 60

The Thistle has been the national emblem of Scotland since the reign of Alexander III (1249–1286) and was used on silver coins issued by James III in 1470. It is the symbol of the Order of the Thistle, a high chivalric order of Scotland.

This pattern is called Glamis as it is found near Glamis Castle, the home of Queen Elizabeth.  Artist signed on front: P Curnock

Condition: No chips or cracks.  One plate, (sold individually) has a small flake on the back and one has a very subtle, tight hairline in the glaze that only shows on the back of the plate. There are some, light surface scratches and crazing
