VINTAGE OLIVE GREEN TRANSFERWARE PLATTER

Romantic England / J & G Meakin

Here is a stunning piece of transferware by the above mentioned potter of Staffordshire England. It features a stunning depiction of Ightham Mote Kent A.D. 1340

Ightham Mote (pronounced "item moat") is a medieval moated manor house close to the village of Ightham, near Sevenoaks in Kent .
The name "mote" derives from "moot", "meeting [place]", rather than referring to the body of water. Today, Ightham Mote and its gardens are open to the public.

The platter depicts the stately English Manor in its beautiful surroundings with a fisherman in a wooded boat and swans on the water...art by Frank Rigger.

The border is a wonderful blend of delicate flowers, ivy leaves and blueberries

The platter is in wonderful condition, free of chips, cracks and restoration! Only some minor crazing present.

measures 12" x 9.5".

What a perfect addition...a rare opportunity...a must...for the collector of English transferware!
