Vintage Transferware Plate Brown Roses Blarney Castle Pastoral Scene

Up For consideration is a beautiful plate in the Old Britain Castles pattern made in Staffordshire England by Johnson Brothers.

The scene depicts Blarney Castle in 1792 set back behind a lake with two women standing alongside, visiting. The grounds are lush, being landscaped with large trees, walkways and bridges as illustrated by H Fennell. The border is an intricate blend of Victorian scrollwork outlined by delicate & small geometric patterns w/ lush roses and other flowers placed intermittently around it. The brown transfer has hand painted touches of blue, green, red and gold.

Measures 10" in diameter, is slightly scalloped

Condition…no chips or cracks, just some age related crazing is present.
