BLUE AND BROWN TWO COLOR IRONSTONE TRANSFERWARE PLATE

Alfred Meakin

Stoke Upon Trent

OFFERING ONE OF THE LARGEST TRANSFERWARE COLLECTIONS ON THE WEB!

For consideration is this stunning antique transferware plate done in the two color process dating to the 1920 era as is indicated by the makers mark on the back. The outer border is purple and comprised of geometric florals and scrolls in diamond and wedge shapes. There is an inner border that is a light brown transfer of geometric diamond shaped banding. The face of the plate is blue and depicts an Asian / Oriental Blue Willow scene with Pagodas, doves / lovebirds in flight and people on the bridge. It is an absolutely beautiful piece and color combination!

Two Color transferware is highly collected, more difficult to find and more expensive to manufacture due to each color requiring its own transfer and firing. This plate is a lovely example of two color pieces.
Measures appx 6 5/8"

Condition: No chips or cracks with exception to one small flake on the back side that doesn't show from the front / top.
