No. 37 — Homeward to the Hive
This charming vintage plate features a beautifully detailed, embossed ivory border surrounding a picturesque English cottage scene identified as Ludington, Warwickshire. With its steeply pitched thatched roof, flowering cottage garden, fruit-laden tree, and traditional straw bee skeps nestled beneath the branches, it captures the quiet romance of English country life.
I've added just one tiny jeweled bee along the rim, carefully positioned as though it's making its way back to the skeps below. Its delicate golden body and shimmering wings bring a little movement and whimsy to the scene, as if the bee has wandered beyond the garden and is now returning home. Sometimes the smallest embellishment tells the sweetest story.
Part of Fragments of Grace: The Beautifully Broken Collection, this one-of-a-kind piece is a gentle reminder that even after life's longest and most difficult journeys, there can be a way home. To me, it speaks of God's grace in leading us through uncertain seasons and reminding us that comfort, belonging, and new beginnings are never beyond His reach.
Decorative use only. Not food safe.
Each piece in the Fragments of Grace collection includes a keepsake card with the piece’s title, collection number, and the story behind Fragments of Grace — a reminder that broken does not mean finished, and beauty can still be found in what has been lovingly restored.

About the plate:
"There is probably no object so much a natural part of the English landscape, nor which makes such a direct appeal to the heart and imagination, as the old country cottage". This perfectly charming 17th century cottage in Luddington Warwickshire (misspelled on the plate with only one D), now part of Stratford on Avon, is featured in the 1906 antique book entitled "Old English Country Cottages" on page 131 in the section which features the gardens, style and craftsmanship of cottages in that area.
This picturesque dark brown / black transfer ware plate depicts a real quintessential, thatched English cottage farmhouse surrounded by a plethora of country flowers and a keepers bee skeps. It has a nice embossed border of scrolls and plumes with a painted mustard green outline. The scene has some hand painted highlights of brown, taupe, gold, green, red, yellow and blue.
