No. 40 — A Little Mischief in the Countryside

This charming vintage Rural Scenes plate features a picturesque English countryside cottage nestled among leafy trees, with two figures making their way along a winding path. Its wonderfully detailed brown transferware border is accented with touches of green, russet, and golden yellow, depicting rustic gatherings of flowers, foliage, and country harvest treasures.

Perched along the edge, I've added a delightful jeweled squirrel in warm shades of copper, amber, and burnt orange. With its sparkling, curled tail and playful expression, it looks as though it has wandered straight out of the surrounding woodland to investigate the little cottage below. The squirrel's rich autumn colors beautifully complement the warm tones already present in the original design.

Part of Fragments of Grace: The Beautifully Broken Collection, this one-of-a-kind piece celebrates the joy of unexpected discoveries and the beauty that can be found in life's imperfect moments. It's a gentle reminder that God's grace often appears in the smallest ways — bringing a little light, joy, and renewed beauty into places we might otherwise have overlooked.

Each piece in the Fragments of Grace collection includes a keepsake card with the piece’s title, collection number, and the story behind Fragments of Grace — a reminder that broken does not mean finished, and beauty can still be found in what has been lovingly restored.
