BROWN POLYCHROME TRANSFER WARE

Royal Staffordshire Rural Scenes / Pastoral Davenport by AJ Wilkinson / Clarice Cliff Dinnerware

For consideration is this scenic sugar bowl and creamer from Royal Staffordshire depicting rural farm scenes and cottages with cows, chickens, etc.   The border is one of my favorites, being a mix of farming implements including a rake, hoe, shovel and bee skep mixed with lattice, ivy and berries.

The brown transfer is hand painted in shades of green and burgundy, all under glaze so it is permanent.  They are a wonderful, wonderful addition to any transferware collector, but especially to those of you who collect this pattern. I seldom come across the pieces with the silver overlay.
