No. 42 — Christmas Across the Bridge

This beautiful vintage Spode plate from the Archive Collection features the historic Bridge of Lucano pattern, with its romantic Italian landscape, ancient stone tower, graceful arched bridge, and cattle grazing along the water's edge. Its distinctive octagonal shape and richly detailed cranberry-colored transferware border, adorned with grapes, wheat, and trailing foliage, make it a particularly charming piece of English pottery.

To give this imperfect treasure a little Christmas magic, I've embellished it with two sparkling jeweled Christmas trees in festive shades of ruby red, emerald green, and gold. A brilliant red poinsettia-inspired brooch, accented with tiny sparkling blossoms, rests along the upper rim. Together, the embellishments bring a joyful holiday spirit to the centuries-old design, while honoring its original beauty.

Part of Fragments of Grace: The Beautifully Broken Collection, this one-of-a-kind piece is a reminder that Christmas is, above all, a season of hope, grace, and renewal. Just as something once imperfect can be reimagined into something beautiful, God's love reminds us that no story is beyond redemption and that even the broken places can shine with unexpected beauty.
