Brand Wedgwood

An elegant antique Wedgwood plate from the Corinthian series, featuring the classic embossed border that defines this early 20th-century form. The piece is finished in a soft mint-to-aquamarine band, beautifully framing a delicately hand-painted floral motif in shades of periwinkle blue, golden yellow, and soft greens.

The central bloom, rendered in a romantic English garden style, closely resembles a stylized anemone or windflower—typical of Wedgwood’s decorative approach during this period, where botanical forms were interpreted with a painterly softness rather than strict realism.

Produced in England circa 1905–1930, this piece reflects Wedgwood’s long-standing reputation for combining refined neoclassical shapes with accessible yet highly decorative tableware. The embossed border adds depth and texture, while the fresh, airy palette gives the piece a timeless, versatile appeal.

A beautiful example for collectors or for use in layered table settings and decorative displays.

The plate is Creamware  or Queens Ware, Wedgwood's innovatory cream coloured earthenware named after the successful completion of his first commission for Queen Charlotte secured in the summer of 1765. With the delivery of 'A complete set of tea things' which included a dozen cups for coffee, six fruit baskets and stands, six melon preserve pots and six hand candlesticks, Josiah Wedgwood was permitted to title his cream coloured earthenware 'Queen’s Ware'. No evidence has been discovered to determine exactly when the service was delivered to London but it was evidently sometime before the 9 June 1766, when a notice in Aris Birmingham Gazette, (a pre-eminent Midlands newspaper) announced: "Mr Josiah Wedgwood, of Burslem, has had the honour of being appointed Potter to Her Majesty."

The plate has a beautiful lace like embossed Corinthian border.  The lavender blues and aqua mint greens play beautifully against one another.
