Pretty antique soap dish with lid and drainer by American potter Edwin Bennett

This antique saop dish was manufactured Circa 1890-1920 during a period known as the Aesthetic Movement.  It was originally part of a bath set to include a slop pail, a shaving mug, a razor box, a chamber pot, and wash basin with pitcher.  These pieces are beautiful reminders of past times, whether you use for display in your bathroom, bedroom or repurpose as a candy dish or trinket dish or other use elsewhere in the home.  Looks so pretty filled with seasonal berries, small pumpkins, etc and the lid propper to the side.

Decorated on both sides and lid.

Marked on bottom (though is very blurry and cannot really be made out just by looking at it) “Bona Fama Est Melior Zona Aurea Alba China” around a globe pierced with a sword through the United States on the guard of which the initials of the company appear.  The phrase “Bona Fama Est Melior Zona Aurea” is a French expression that translates in English to "A good reputation is better than a golden belt".  The Edwin Bennett was in Baltimore MD until around the beginning of WW11

Measures: appx " tall

Condition: there is a hairline crack down one side of the bowl along with crazing and a bit of browning around the hairline.

I have also listed a matching pitcher (shown with the pink roses)and the matching shaving cup shown with the orangey yellowish roses.
