Brand Adams

Adams potteries produced a series of plates from engravings of paintings done by artist Francis Wheatley, born in Covent Garden in the mid 1700's. This is the series for which the artist is most remembered, painting London's street vendors selling their goods. In this case it was "Fresh Gathered Peas Young Hastings" and depicts a man pouring fresh peas into a Mothers apron with her daughter standing by to catch any overflow.
It is a beautiful black transfer with very subtle, painted touches of taupe/brown on the scene. Trimmed in gold at the rim.
