For consideration is this rare, English carved butter tray complete with an antique Butter dish by W R Midwinter in a Blue Willow pattern. The wooden tray is recessed and the shallow blue piece fits perfectly inside.

Blue Willow: Read the story behind the pattern at my blog, here:

Butter Dish: Though I am not certain which firm made this dish I am fairly positive it was made in the Sheffield region of England and includes a small bitter spreader knife. Sheffield is known the world over for its stainless steel development that took hold in the early 19th Century. Many firms produced pieces like this and the wood bread and butter boards that are so highly collected today.

Measures: Wooden Butter Dish is 6" and Blue Willow Dish is 4" x about 1/2" deep

Condition: The wood piece is in sound, very good condition. There are impressed marks which are all around the word butter itself. The Blue Willow dish is excellent, free of chips, cracks or crazing. The knife has a couple of tiny cracks on the handle.

Such a rare, hard to find and wonderful piece this is!
