Early Staffordshire
BI COLOR YELLOW & BROWN TRANSFERWARE TEA CUP & SAUCER

Circa 1830-40 Ridgway

For consideration I am offering this stunning, antique teacup and saucer from Staffordshire England in a rare two color transfer.  This piece is attributable to Ridgway.     After 1828, newly developed technology allowed potters to produce two and three color transfer wares.  The pattern on this set is so delicate. The yellow/gold transfer is reminiscent of tony diamond shaped in an all over sheet pattern with lots of scrollwork.  The border of the plate and its face and on either side of the cup contain hand painted pink roses / flowers amidst the scrolls.  The cup is decorated inside and out.  Simply beautiful and a rare find!

Measures:  Saucer: 5.75" Cup: 4.75" handle to opposite rim

Condition:  No chips or cracks, mild crazing, stilt marks (as shown) on bottom of saucer
