19th C Watteau English Transferware Blue & White Lamp Musical Serenade New Wharf Pottery

$144.99

Brand Coalport

This antique transferware lamp is wired and sits on a painted base. It is in the Watteau pattern by New Wharf Pottery and dates somewhere before or shortly after 1900.  The romantic scene depicts a couple in a lush garden sitting on a bench.  Both are in period clothing, the woman is holding a mandolin while the young man is playing the flute.  This scene appears on each side of the lamp while the top and bottom have a lovely border of lattice intertwined with lacey scrolls and ribbon and roses swags.  This would be darling with a gingham or buffalo check blue shade!

The lamp is wired and does work. Cord and plug look to be in good condition. Comes with a brass finish harp as shown

Measures: 12" tall without the shade, harp or finial.  With the shade it will be about 20-23"
The base diameter is 5 3/4"

Lamp shade shown is not included

No chips or cracks to the lamp.  There is crazing.  The metal base, as shown, has some scratches in the paint so it either needs to be re-painted or further distressing to the paint.  The base is covered with felt to avoid scratches when setting on a table.
