Dominion of Canada red and black two color transferware plate by Masons. Traditional Canadian Maple leaves adorn the border with outer borders of geometric flowers and patterns. The face depicts a black transfer of a lion and unicorn holding a shield and each holding a flag. A banner above reads Dominion of Canada and below reads A Mari Vsqve Ad Mare This plate is hand painted at the face with enamel in orange, royal blue, green , light green, gold and red. Clobbering is the name of this technique. The enamel is applied over the glaze. It can be felt and is a rare and unique process.
