This vintage little pot jar was made for Elsenham Quality Foods to hold Patum Peperium, aka The Gentlemen’s Relish, which is a British brand of anchovy paste created in 1828 by John Osborn. I recently acquired a collection of these little pots with each having some kind of wild game bird on them.
the underside of the lid describes that it is made with the original recipe.
Perfect to display, to hold pills, rings, paper clips or other smalls. Having several would be so neat as butter pats or salt dips!
