Vintage Wedgwood Valentines Day Purple Transferware Plate Cherubs Children Playing Musical Instruments
Vintage Wedgwood Plate Cipriani
Purple / Fuchsia Colored Transferware
Perfect for Valentines Day decor, this beautifully detailed plate depicts Victorian babies, or cherubs, swaddled in swags of ribboned garland and bordered with acanthus leaves. Each of the cherubs are playing flute, mandolin, tambourine or holding sheet music in their hands. These date to the 1920-50 era and the transfers inspired by paintings by Angelica Kauffman, Swiss-born Austrian Neoclassical painter who had a successful career in London and Rome during the 18th century.
