Rare Vintage Spode Copeland Byron Pastoral Blue Transferware Platter Child Dog The Cow Doctor
$299.99
Brand Spode Copeland
The Byron pattern was seldom exported to the United States, so rarely will you come across any here. Equally interesting is that the scenes are loosely based on Byron’s poetry. This particular platter has a brown transferware border of lattice intertwined with lush ivy and bundles of grapes. The plate depicts a rural, peasant stone farmhouse with a thatched roof and ivy growing overhead. There are two women at the door, overlooking and appearing to be listening to the conversation taking place outside between an elderly couple and the Veterinarian who has come to tend to their sick cow. There is a young girl kneeling on the ground and either placing something in or taking something out of the open box in front of her.
Condition is great for its age, no chips, cracks or repairs. Only some minor paint loss to the paints green edge and some typical crazing attesting to its age.
Measures: appx.
The detail in the transfer is exquisite. I very rarely come across the Byron pattern in blue. This is absolutely one of the most beautiful pastoral scenes ever applied to transfer ware.
Condition is near mint for its age, no chips, cracks or repairs. Only some minor, typical crazing attesting to its age.
Measures: appx. 16” x 12.25”

Don't miss this rare opportunity to add a rare and magnificent piece to your collection of transferware.
